Cloud Connect @ Interop

Attend Cloud Connect @ Interop to see first-hand how enterprises can leverage the cloud's abundance of resources and applications to outmaneuver, out-innovate, and outpace the competition.

Cloud is a critical enterprise tool that should be at the heart of every IT strategy. IT buyers across all industries are increasing cloud-related spending, but still face challenges deciding which cloud architecture and platform is best suited for their business. Through analysis and comparison of the leading cloud stacks and how they're progressing, Cloud Connect's programming at Interop Las Vegas will help attendees weigh their options. Cloud Connect will also power in-depth cloud workshops and feature a Cloud Connect Zone on the Interop Expo floor.

Cloud Connect will explore how the Cloud fundamentally changes enterprise computing and the roles of CIOs and IT leaders.

Keynote - Beyond the Cloud: Technology and Business in a Composable Future
During the 1st Era of computing, applications were anchored in time and place with software written for specific platforms and scheduled to perform work when needed. We’re now in the midst of the 2nd Era, where cloud application software is increasingly decoupled from underlying physical infrastructures, is run globally, and responds to events as needed. Jonathan Murray (@Adamathus) calls the 3rd Era of Computing ‘The Metaform - The platform of Everything'.( In this era beyond the cloud, code will once and for all be liberated from the constraints of time and place, opening the door to a real-time, insight-driven, composable future. Murray will outline the broad implications of this composable future, where businesses unlock fully the value of their core capabilities and new businesses are increasingly constructed from parts available from a global service marketplace. Murray will discuss the technological, operational, and strategic challenges enterprises will need to overcome to survive and profit from this coming transformation.
Speaker: Jonathan Murray, Founding Partner - Innovia Strategies and Founder n.flex.n Software

Keynote - Composable, Componentized, Control...Is Your Cloud Strategy Keeping Up?
The explosion of microservices, agile CI/CD and RESTful APIs is creating a new model for building highly distributed applications and launching them quickly. At the same time, systems of record and governance models will not disappear overnight. How is your organization balancing these competing demands? Is your hybrid strategy supported by management capabilities that span a wide spectrum of host modalities? Jared examines 5 must-solve questions as you consider the future of your most critical application workloads.
Speaker: Jared Wray, CTO, CenturyLink Cloud

Keynote: "Get Out of My Way”: What Developers Really Want
Your developers are asking for real cloud because they want easy, fast and predictable access to resources so they can deliver applications and features at scale faster. How do you enable those developers to move at the speed that the business is asking? Striking the balance of control, security, and visibility for IT teams is the challenge most organizations face today. In this talk, you’ll hear what thousands of developers have told Scott and Niki. You'll leave with ideas to help change your mindset and break the glass required to give your developers what they need to help your business move faster.
Speaker: Rafi Khardalian, Director, Metacloud Engineering & Operations, Cisco

Featured Workshops Powered by Cloud Connect

Cloud Applications: The Next Generation
Cloud computing solves the problem of infrastructure -- computing resources are now cheap, scalable, and easy to access. However, it's still challenging to design and operate applications for cloud environments; in addition, the ongoing shift of IT from back office to the public-facing front of the corporation means the number and type of applications is changing dramatically. The Cloud Applications workshop delivers knowledge and insight about how IT organizations can prepare for the new world of cloud applications.
Instructor: Bernard Golden, Author, Amazon Web Services for Dummies, Vice President Strategy, ActiveState Software

Container Crash Course
Containers are hot. If you’re wondering what the buzz is about and whether it’s justified, this workshop is for you. We’ll delve into the technology of containers, including their similarities and differences with virtual machines. We will discuss use cases and appropriate workloads, and describe how containers can be integrated into a cloud strategy. We’ll also look at the container ecosystem for operations and management, and point you in the right direction for testing and experimentation.
Andrew Clay Shafer, Senior Director of Technology, Pivotal

Designing Infrastructure for Private Clouds
Private cloud deployments are often just a glorified facade for server virtualization, missing the flexibility, elasticity and self-service aspects of cloud services. The missteps leading to this sad state usually start in the design phase, making it even more important to focus on the design of your private cloud infrastructure.
Instructor: Ivan Pepelnjak, Network Architect, AG

The Interop Expo will feature the Cloud Connect Zone, showcasing startup and established cloud companies. Visit the Expo on Tuesday, April 28 – Thursday, April 30.
